Sidney Cox Sings “Deep and Wide” accompanied by John and Jean Cox.

This recording was made in the early 1970s during late stages of the life of Sidney Cox. I’m quite sure the effort was initiated by my parents, John and Jean Cox. They were talented musicians and singers. My mother accompanies them on the accordion. They wanted a lasting memory of Sidney Cox and perhaps his most well known composition. Also, while the chorus was known literally around the world from its use with children, the verses had basically been lost to obscurity – a fact that greatly troubled Sidney Cox. This effort also allowed Sidney Cox himself to emphasize the importance of the song’s verses.

J. Douglas Cox. Grandson of Sidney Cox. April 2007.
