Late in his life (circa early 1970s), Sidney Cox envisioned making a series of audio recordings of him telling the story of how he came to compose many of his songs. Although it’s quite clear that he foresaw a large library of these stories, for whatever reason only two survived. These were the stories of him writing his first two songs in the years 1914 – 1916 while serving as a Salvation Army officer in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
